Yesterday I brought my final books into the city and shared them with a number of art producers at some really cool top ad agencies. I felt like it was my coming out party. Debutante Photographer. Finally after all this hard work and creativity the book is completed and it is gorgeous. It truly shows my aesthetic, my work and my personalty better than I cold have ever imagined. It was so great to see their reaction as they turned the pages. Now the hard work of reaching out to hundreds more on a weekly basis begins. I’m up for the challenge.

Today at school my son learned a new song ushering out the last day of Summer. “Goodbye Summer, we will miss you. Goodbye warm days, fall is ahead.” Yup summer is over and soon so will be the incredible amount of time and work we put into producing 5 unique illustrated portfolios showcasing my photography work. As of today, we are in the final stretch just getting the cover art perfect and soon we can assemble the books! Sure I’ll cry, I might even hold them close to my breast and wipe away some tears. Call me crazy but it’s taken almost 9 months and I’ll be damned if they’re not my babies. So while all those art buyers and photo editors are hanging off their seats waiting for these babies I think I might do some summer reminiscing in the form of these adorable summer sisters.

we had a blast shooting cuties galore for Zoocchini’s amazing line of animal inspired towels, decals and plush toys at a fabulous loft in Newark, NJ. we didn’t get home till midnight due to some crazy GW Bridge traffic but we made the best of it by stopping in Teaneck for cold guacamole soup (i know!!) that literally made me swoon and veggie sesame chicken. once we got closer to the bridge there was still a ridiculous 2 hour delay of which we were completely stuck in due to orange cone-age everywhere. what’s a girl to do but get out of the car, move the cones and head north to the Tappen Zee. don’t worry New Jersey Transit, i moved them right back.

with the new Petunia Pickle Bottom catalog shoot coming up soon i have been working on finding just the right “mommy-ish” fashion models to pair with our adorable kids. i’ve used a bunch of agencies in the past year but none as great as my new found fave – APM Model Management. Eric Schandel our agent is simply amazing. kind, generous and calm. my favorite attributes. the models are beautiful and perfect for this years vintage farm/glam.
seriously, if you need models in nyc look no further.

working on my shoot for Petunia today. beautiful sunny day here in NY w/ a bit of a nip. i’ve taken to working on my dinning room table again after a long stint in the back room. my 24″ imac travels well as it is tower “less” and light and i haven’t manged to drop it yet. i’m also closer to Janice my stylist as she sorts through all the wardrobe in my LR like only she can. i love how the sun floods this area most of the day. although i must say i was driving around the other day and noticed some really sunny houses that were NOT mine. sunny houses are an obsession of mine. while other home owners covet better curb apeal or a larger landscape, i stalk sun light. up until now i had thought my house soaked up the most sun in the area. i was wrong. the streets direclty north of me have far less towering oak trees and get lots more sun. i’m jealous. interesting how you notice these things as a photographer. next time we move that’ll be a pre-req.
matty has his yellow belt test today. kick ass little guy.
